# Why Waterfall

> Reliable data, costs that work at scale, and APIs that fit your workflow.

You might get thousands of signups and still not know which companies are trying your product. Enriching every signup can get expensive. Without that data, it's harder to tailor onboarding or decide which accounts to pass to sales.

Waterfall for DevTools brings person enrichment, company data, and contact search into one API suite. Combine the results with your product data and apply your own rules.

## Keep costs in line with your signup volume

You don't need to run every endpoint for every signup. Person enrichment, company enrichment, and contact search are separate operations, so you can choose when each one is useful.

* **Start with the data you need.** A signup workflow may only need a professional profile and company domain. Phone enrichment is optional and can add charges.
* **Enrich the company when it is useful.** Your application can reuse a recent company result for other records when it is still fresh enough for your needs.
* **Find more contacts at qualified accounts.** Run contact search when an account meets your criteria, rather than for every registration.
* **Measure the full workflow.** Compare usable matches, accuracy, latency, and total cost at your expected volume.

We're testing a dedicated high-volume pipeline for DevTool and PLG teams. The goal is faster enrichment at a lower cost per result, while keeping coverage and quality high. Talk to us about pricing, capacity, and response times for your setup.

## Check data quality on your own records

Waterfall brings together more than 30 data vendors through one API. Test coverage and freshness on the records your team works with: personal emails, work emails, company domains, and existing users.

Check a sample to make sure the results match the right people and companies. Keep missing data marked as unknown, and decide how often you need to refresh each field. Freshness guarantees vary by field and endpoint.

## Work directly with our developers

We'll start with an onboarding call to plan your workflow and walk through implementation. We've helped self-serve companies build signup enrichment and account qualification processes, so we can help you choose where to start.

You'll have a shared Slack channel with our developers for questions and hands-on support. We typically reply in under 10 minutes. You can also request new data points, which we typically add in about a week after agreeing on the scope.

## Start with one workflow

Start with a sample of your signups, your expected volume, and the fields you need. Review the results, then connect them to your account qualification or sales workflow.
